Ever wanted to write a play and think about staging it? This is your chance! This limited capacity workshop for 13-17 year olds takes budding theatre-makers through the stages of writing and stage design.
We will begin by working on script story ideas and learning the basics of playwriting techniques including character, dialogue, action and conflict. Next, you will work on the design process. You will spend time imagining how to realise your scripts on stage. We will look at the play you have written and create the designs to match. We will develop ‘mood boards’ on the theme, styles and time period in which your play is set. Then we will plan how this would work on stage by exploring ‘thumb-nail sketches’ and ‘story-boarding’ techniques to create a stage set for the play.
No experience is necessary - just a willingness to try. It’s an exciting opportunity to be creative and an insight into how the world of theatre works. Looking forward to working with you!
Cost: £30
Time: 9-1pm
