Painter and Interdisciplinary Art practitioner
Emma’s compositions are all processes of 'looking to be still' or 'to distil', whatever medium, form or subject is used. From painting, drawing, pottery, writing, recording, research and multi sensory participatory installations and collections; involving found objects, sound, touch and smell.
Her paintings have a background influence from growing up on the Isle of Wight exploring coast, plimsoll, plumb and horizon lines. “There is a leveling effect to look as far as the eye can see. I think thats why I like pottery, or prioritising sound, it centres me in a similar way. Achieving stillness or distilling an idea is an active process, its anything but still until you’ve achieved it.”
Emma advocates people creating works of their own for cognitive and therapeutic benefits and enjoys teaching as part of her practice; having previously worked for The Manchester College and Milton Keynes College, education providers for Her Majesty’s Prisons; Buckinghamshire Adult learning, MIND, artsmart and Daler Rowney.
Tuition available. See Adumbration Arts for details.
