Originally from Birmingham, Simon Horton is a potter currently based in South Oxfordshire, UK. Self-taught, but having previously spent time working at the historic Winchcombe Pottery, Simon makes stoneware pots fired in reduction atmospheres in either wood or gas kilns. These pots are intended for use and display in the home, with glazes developed through many hours of experimentation. Simon's inspiration comes from those pots which prioritise form, from medieval slipware to early Chinese and Korean pots, through C20th stoneware, seeking to produce work which is quiet, understated and modest.
