Aimée Alice Payton
Statement lampshades and upholstery
Aimee is a lampshade maker and upholsterer with an extensive collection of textiles from around the world. “I love textiles! The colours, textures, the way they are made, their cultural and historical meanings – all of these things fascinate me. It is such a pleasure to work with beautiful fabric to create bespoke, one-off pieces for the home.”
Her traditional shades are hand-sewn and with each stitch taut or rippled, fabrics are drawn into beautiful new shapes. Her hard shades are hand cut and rolled so that the placement of pattern is perfect. She rarely makes more than two shades the same.
With some wonderful fabric, skilled craftsmanship and love Aimee can recreate the former elegance of your tired chairs or transform them into something glorious. Working with clients to gather ideas and help with the design, she is fastidious about the detailed craftsmanship of both traditional and modern upholstery.
